March Monthly Favourites

27 Mar

It’s been a little while since I’ve done a favorites post so I thought I show you the products that I’ve been using most through March.  I decided to do something a little different with the pictures rather just having  a white background, and I’d love to know what you prefer 🙂

March Favourites

March Favourites

March Favourites

March Favourites

First up is Clarins Daily Energizer Cream – I’ve been using this everyday since I bough it and it is definitely my favourite moisturiser at the moment and I really don’t see myself trying a new for quite a while.  I review it in full here.

Kate Moss Lipstick in 02 – I’ve been a big fan of bright lips recently and this has been my favourite bright lipstick this month.  It’s a gorgeous bright pink which looks amazing for Spring/Summer and I can see it being used quite a bit in the upcoming months.  If you fancy seeing some swatches of it click here.

Barry M Flawless Matte Finish Foundation – I’ve been using this everyday since I got it and it’s the best matte foundation that I’ve tried.  I don’t want to go in to too much detail about it as I’m planning on doing a full review of it soon 🙂

Maybelline Baby Skin Primer – I love this primer and use it almost everyday.  It’s really light weight, helps to minimize pore and makes sure your make-up stays put all day.  It could be the perfect primer.

Models Co Lip Pencil – I got this free with a magazine (think it might have been Glamour?) and I’ve been using quite a bit.  It’s got a little sharpner in the lid meaning that you can sharpen it whenever you need to.  It’s nude in colour meaning that it goes with any lipstick.  (If you want a full review of it, just let me know).

So that’s my March favourites!  I hope that you liked them and I would love to know what you think of the photos 🙂  Do you prefer just plain white or would you rather see something like this?

Favourites of 2013

31 Dec

I can’t believe that 2013 is almost over and that this will be my last post this year! This year seems to have gone so fast and I really feel that my blog has grown so much this past year.  I’ve started blogging more consistently since January and can really see how much it’s changed looking back on it now.  I even took part in my first blogging challenge in September which you can see here. My aim for next year is to continue to work even harder on improving my blog and try and make sure I post at least three times a week.  I’m also determined to do more fashion related post in 2014 as I feel like I’ve not done a many as I would have liked.

I haven’t done a favourites post since September as I felt that I was using some of the same products and didn’t want to post the same things as the month before.  So on to the favourites of the year;

Sleek Rose Gold – This is definitely a favourite among bloggers.  This blush is such a gorgeous shade and would suit so many shades of skin tone.  It’s perfect for during the summer as it has a lovely gold shimmer running through it.

Collection Illuminating Concealer – I love this concealer as it really helps to conceal and brighten up the eye area.  I also love using this to highlight my under my brows and my cheekbones.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Rose – This has 5 shades which can be used alone or all swirled together to create a lovely shimmery pink shade.  This can be used on cheeks or can be used as eyeshadows.

Olay BB Cream – This first BB cream that I’ve tried and I love it!  I provides a light coverage and is perfect for days when you don’t feel like wearing a heavy foundation.

Urban Decay Eye Shadow Pencil in Clinic – This thick and chunky eye pencil is great for sweeping over lids and providing highly pigmented lasting colour.  Clinic is a gorgeous dark green with shimmer particles through it.

Sleek Lagoon Palette – This limited edition palette came out back in march and has lots of shimmery, watery looking shades in it.  This palette can create so many different and colourful looks.

N.Y.C City Curls Mascara – This little mascara makes lashes dark black and helps to lengthen and curl them.  This mascara isn’t overly pricey but it’s definitely one of the best that I own!

Eyeko Skinny Liner – I got this free in a magazine but will be purchasing the full size one when this little one runs out.  It creates thick and thin lines and doesn’t budge throughout the day, what more could you ask for?

Topshop Mexican Wave – I bought this on a whim and wasn’t really sure about the bright orange colour when it was in the tube but it became one of my favourites throughout the summer and doesn’t look as orange when it’s applied.

Collection Cream Puff in Cotton Candy – This is surprisingly moisturising even though it’s matte.  It last really well and is a gorgeous bight pink shade, which I think is perfect for spring and summer.

N.Y.C Expert Last Lipstick in Traffic Jam – This was the first red lipstick that I bought and I had no idea that I would love it so much.  It lasts really well and is really pigmented.

Barry M Ultra MoisturisingLip Paint in Vicious Violet – This is on of my favourites at the moment and is possibly the most perfect winter shade.  It moisturises and last really well throughout the day.

So that’s my favourites of 2013!  Let me know what you think of them 🙂  I also hope that you all have a wonderful New Year 🙂

P.s There will be a little giveaway starting in the first week of the New Year to thank you all for being such lovely followers 🙂

Barry M Ultra Moisturising Lip Paint – Vicious Violet

18 Nov

If you don’t have a Boots advantage card, then I recommend that you get one, now!  I checked at the wee machine in store to see if there was any offers for me, and there was, one of which was £2 off any lipstick or mascara.  I feel like I’ve gone a bit lipstick mad lately but this didn’t stop me from heading over to the Barry M counter and picking up this Ultra Moisturising Lip Paint in Vicious Violet (No 156).

Barry M Vicious Violet

Barry M Vicious Violet

I already have one of the others in the Ulta Moisturings range (Black Cherry) which you can read about here.  This range of lip paints come in a bright pink packaging which I really love.  They are also enriched with Cocoa butter meaning that they keep lips nice and moisturised which is great, especially in the cold weather.

Barry M Vicious Violet

Vicious Violet is a lovely berry/pink shade which I feel is perfect for Autumn/Winter and I know that I’ll be wearing it a lot especially over the next few months.  I find that it lasts about 5 hours before needing to be topped up, and I find that it fades off evenly.

I don’t own Mac Rebel but from the pictures that I’ve seen on other blogs this may be a good dupe for it it if your wanting a more affordable lipstick.  From this pictures I’ve seen it’s not an exact colour match, Vicious Violet is slightly more pink but the look quite similar.

This is another lip stick by Barry M which I will definitely buy again.  The Barry M Ultra Moisturising Lip paints can be bought from the Barry M website, Superdrug and Boots for £4.49.

Have you tried any of the Barry M lip paints?  What’s your favourite and do you prefer the regular ones or the moisturising ones? 🙂

#SBBC 10 Products Under £10

20 Sep

I love shopping and if I had the money I would probably shop everyday.  But I don’t think that you always have to spend a lot of money to get a great product and I feel that there are loads of drugstore cosmetics that could rival their high-end counter parts.  So here are my top ten products for £10 and under;

10 products under £10

MUA Eye Primer – This eye primer works really well considering the price.  If I’m honest I probably won’t look for another eye primer as this one does a great job. Price – £2.50

NYC Mascara – You can see my full review here and the difference it made to my lashes.  The only thing about this product is that it isn’t waterproof but it last all day and really makes a difference to lashes. Price – £2.49

Revlon Kissable Balm Stain – I love this and I’m planning on buying more colours of these.  They keep lips moisturized while providing colour and you don’t have to keep reapplying as after a while they turn into a lip stain, perfect for when you don’t have time to reapply constantly. Price – £7.99

Barry M Nail Paints – I love these! Most of them are £2.99 but you’ll pay a little more of ones that have an effect to them.  The last for around 5 days before you’ll start to notice a little chipping.  There are over 50 colours in the range so you’ll definitely find a colour that you like! Price – from £2.99

Collection Glam Crystals – I’ve used Collection Glam Crystals for years and they are the best glitter eyeliners that I’ve tried.  The last all day and come in a wide range of colours.  Price – £2.99

10 products under £10

Bourjois Delice de Poudre –  This bronzer is mainly matte – it has got a little bit of shimmer in the packaging but you don’t notice this when it applied making it great for contouring.  Not only is it shaped like a chocolate bar it also smells like chocolate.  Price – £6.99

Sleek Rose Gold Blush – Another favourite within the blogging community is this blusher and if you have it you’ll know why.  It’s highly pigmented and lasts all day.  Not only is this blush under £10, it’s a close dupe of Nars Orgasm. Price – £4.99

Loreal Elnett – This is the best hair spray that I’ve ever used and although a little more expensive that some it’s definitely worth it and I don’t think I’d ever use a different hairspray.  I really does brush out of hair and doesn’t leave it feeling sticky like some brands do.  Price – £3.89

Collection Lasting Colour Lipstick (Mango Tango) – I’ve not reviewed this yet but it’s such a great little lipstick and I used it quite a few times on holiday.  It last about 4-5 hours and is great for adding a pop of colour to your make-up look.  Price – £2.99

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation – Always a favourite foundation of mine and I know a lot of other blogger have a love for this foundation as well.  It provides good coverage and feels light on the skin.  Price – £8.99

So that’s my top ten products under £10 🙂 Do you use any of the ones on my list or do you have another product you think should be on it?

Barry M Ultra Moisturising Lip Paint – Black Cherry

20 Jun

I bought this when the ultra moisturising lip paints were released with the aim of reviewing it way before now but was really busy at that point in time and have only recently realized that I hadn’t reviewed it.

There are 6 lip paints in the ultra moisturising collection, I have Black Cherry (160).  The lip paints in the ultra moisturising collection contain Cocoa Butter to ensure that lips stay nice and soft.  As you can see the packaging is different to the usual Barry M lip paints as these once are bright pink.  I really like the packaging a feel that this makes them really stand out.

Black Cherry

Black Cherry

Black Cherry is a a berry/red colour which I think is lovely and would probably suit most skin tones.  I find the lip paint to be moisturising and find that it lasts about 4-5 hours without eating/drinking before it starts to fade slightly.  I find that sometimes it can wear off slightly patchy, but this isn’t really too big a deal if your willing to reapply throughout the day.

Black Cherry

Have you tried any of the Barry M ultra  moisturising lip paints? Let me know what you thought 🙂

Summer Essentials (4) – Eyes

14 Jun

As you can probably tell from my previous summer essentials post I love going for bright colours during summer.  To me, eyeliner/eyeshadow are really important and I would much rather have one of these on than lipstick.  Here are my Summer Essentials for eyes;

Summer Essentials Eyes

  • MUA Eye Primer – To me eye primer is a must to ensure that you eyeshadow is bright and doesn’t crease and fade thoughout the day.  MUA’s eye primer is great for this and doesn’t break the bank either at only £2:50.  The full review can be read here.
  • Barry M Liquid Liner  – This shade is Turquoise.  It’s a bright blue and dries to a matte finish.  The liner has a felt tip nip which makes application easy.  It last all day and doesn’t move once dried.  You can see my full review of it here.
  • Lumene Eyeshadow Duo – This was sent to me by Nancy in the budget beauty blogger swap back in January. It is part of the blueberry longe wear eyeshadow range and is called Northern lights.  This due can be used to make a bright summery smokey eye look.
  • Sleek Lagoon Palette – This was released in March and I couldn’t wait until it came out.  It’s filled with mainly shimmer shades with just 3 matte ones.  I have to admit that I haven’t used it too much as I really wanted to wait until summer to use these shades and to give me time to experiment with it and decide which colours went best with each other.  You can see me full review of it here.
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil – I have this in Ranson which is a gorgeous purple shade with a slight hint of blue.  This really does last all day and is one of the colours that I frequently take on holiday with me as I know that it will stay put.  You can see my full review of it here.
  • Collection Glam Eyes Gel Liner – This is a bright green glitter gel liner and the shade is called Le Freak.  I can’t tell you how many times that I’ve purchased this shade but I’ve been using it for at least four years.  Another that I take with me when I’m traveling as it lasts all day and doesn’t need to be touched up.  You can see my full review of it here.

So that’s my Summer Essentials for eyes, let me know what you thought and what your favourite summer eye colours are 🙂

Summer Essentials (3) – Lips

7 Jun

This is the third in my series of Summer Essential posts if you have missed out on the others you can catch up on them here.

This post is focusing on lips.  To me summer is a great time for wearing a really bright lipstick but I also find that my lips can dry out a little in the summer so moisturizing lips products are also essential.  So here are my Summer Essentials or lips;

Summer Essentials Lips

  • Collection Lock and Hold Lip Gloss in Break Dance – This colour looks like a bright coral in the tube however is much paler on lips.  I feel that it helps to add a little colour so is great if you don’t want too bold a lip colour.  I find that it lasts about 4 hours before needing to be reapplied.  You can see my full review of it here.
  • Topshop Mexican Wave – This was limited edition and I have only just stared wearing it.  I really wish that I had bought more it’s such an amazing coral/red colour.  If you can find people selling it online then I would definitely buy it or if you know of a similar colour then feel free to share.  I think this is great lipstick for a bold summer look.  You can see my full review here.
  • Rimmel Kate Moss Shade 5 – This is one of my most used lipstick as you can probably see from the picture.  this is a lovely pink shade which I feel would suit most skin tones.  For me this is definitely a must have shade.
  • Barry M Touch of Magic Lip Paint- This lipstick is green, but changes to pink due to the alkali level of your lips.  As everyone has different levels of alkali the shade changes from person to person.  For me it changes to a bright pink shade.  I love this lipstick as it will suit everyone as it changes to a colour specifically for them.  A quirky must have lipstick.
  • Jewel by India R – I bought this from a blogger who creates her own lip balms.  I have the honey flavoured one which is awesome.  The lip balms are great just to moisturize you lips or if your not wanting to wear any lipstick.

Here are some swatches to give an idea of the colours, I didn’t swatch the lip blam as it’s clear and the Barry M lip paint isn’t the colour it goes on my lips (alkali level must be different)

So that’s my Summer Essentials, let me know what you thought and what your favourite summer lip colours are 🙂

Summer Essentials (1) – Nails

24 May

I’ve decided that I would start a little series of posts called Summer Essentials where I will pick out some of the products that I will be using over the summer.  I will post these every Friday for the next few weeks.  This week is Nails where I will show my favourite summer nail varnishes.  I will also be creating the following posts in the series, Face, Lips, Eyes, Skincare and Hair.

When it comes to summer I love wearing bright colours on my nails and here are the shades that I’ve chosen to feature in my Summer Essentials Nail post.

  • L.A Colors Green Tea – This shade is pale green and shimmery.  I think glittery colours look great in summer when the sunlight catches them.  You can see what the colour looks like here.  I usually use three coats to make the colour opaque but you can use less.
  • L.A Colours Atomic – The photo doesn’t do this colour justice, in real life it’s a gorgeous bright blue/green colour which always reminds me of the sea.
  • Barry M Blueberry Ice Cream – This shade is a lovely bright sky blue shade.  I find that this nail varnish needs two coats to ensure that it is streak free.
  • Barry M Gelly Nail Paint Grapefruit – This is a bright pink and as it’s part of the Gelly Hi-Shine range it dries with a very glossy finish.  You can see what the colour looks like on nails here.
  • Nails Inc Warwick Avenue – This is a pale pink and will need a few coats to build the colour up and make it really opaque.  If your a fan of French manicures then I think that this would be a great pink shade for it.
  • L’oreal Royalty Reinvented – This is a lovely lilac shade which I think I will be wearing a lot during the summer.  The brush is wider than the usual nail polish brush size meaning that you can coat the nail in one stroke.  I usually use two coats but you could definitely get away with one coat.

Let me know what you think of my first Summer Essentials post and what colours you love wearing during the summer 🙂
