Sleek Storm Palette

26 May

Uni exams are finally all over, meaning that I’ll be able to blog more often as I won’t have loads of deadlines.  Anway I’d seen this palette a few time on other blogs and instagram and when I saw it after an exam, I decided that it could be like a reward (Any excuse to justify buying more make-up!).

This has quickly become one of my favourite palettes at the moment.  Out of the 12 shades only 3 are matte, so if your not a fan of shimmery eyeshadow then this probably isn’t for you.   The packaging is like all the Sleek i-divine shadow palettes, black casing with 12 eyeshadows and a large mirror.  On the outer box it also has some tips which I think is quite a nice touch.

I think that the colours in this palette a gorgeous and you can definitely create so many different looks.  I love how they all have names, and they’re all after different types of storms.

They are all highly pigmented which is great and a little goes along way.  I find that with primer they last about 6 hours before I start to notice a little creasing, but you can fix this by just blending it a little and it looks fine again.  As with all the Sleek palettes that I’ve tried so far I find that they all blend together beautifully and that there are so many looks that you can create using this palette.   I will definitely be posting some of the looks that I create with this palette soon, so keep a look out 🙂

Here are the 12 shades swatched (without primer);

Overall I love this palette and would definitely recommend it if your looking for a palette to create both day and night looks.  Sleek i-divine palettes can be found on the Sleek website and at Superdrug for £7.99.

Have you tried the Sleek Storm palette?  Did you like it or do you prefer one of the other palettes?

Smooch Lipstick – Sweet Tooth

9 Feb

I’d seen some reviews of Smooch Cosmetics a while back and most of them seemed to be good.  So when I was in a shops called Watt Brothers who were selling the lipsticks for £1.99 it would have been rude not to buy one, right?  I haven’t managed to find out much about Smooch Cosmetics, their website doesn’t seem to be available  and it says that they’re working on a new one?

Smooch Lipstick Sweet Tooth

I choose Sweet Tooth as it looked like a lovely subtle shade for wearing during the day if you were already wearing eye make up or wanted to go for a more natural look.  The packaging is the thing that first drew me over, it’s pink with a gorgeous lacy design.

Smooch Lipstick Sweet Tooth

The lipstick casing also has the same lacy style pattern except this time reversed, black casing with pink lacing.  In the casing the lipstick looks really pigmented and looks really quite bright.  However it applies quite sheerly, which is what I wanted but if your looking for a more pigmented pink lipstick then this is probably not for you.

Smooch Lipstick Sweet Tooth

Smooch Lipstick Sweet Tooth

I find that this lipstick last about 4 hours before needing to be reapplied, which I think is okay as since it’s quite a pale colour you don’t see it fading or going patchy like you would with a darker colour.  As much as I like this colour I’m not sure it’ll suit me when I have a tan during the summer, as it might just be a little too pale then.

Have you tried any Smooch Cosmetic?  I’d love to know what you thought of them if you have 🙂

Kate Moss Lipstick 02 Review

12 Nov

This is the second Kate Moss lipstick that I’ve bought and I love this one as much as the other that I have. Shade 02 is a gorgeous bright pink colour. The packaging is the same as the others in the Kate Moss, black with Kate written in red.

This lipstick is really pigmented and applies as bright as it looks, which I love! This lipstick like the other  I have lasts really well and lasts for about 5 hours without needing to be topped up. The colour doesn’t bleed but it can smudge if you touch it or are eating, so you might want to be careful if your eating and drinking when wearing it.

I really love how bright and shiny this lipstick looks and think it’s the perfect lipstick to wear going out or if your even during the day, if like me you love bright lips 🙂

This lipstick can be bought in Superdrug/Boots for £5. However I picked it up from a store called The Factory Shop for only £2!

Have you tried any of the Kate Moss lipstick? Let me know what you think of them and what you favourite shade is 🙂

Olay Glow Perfectors BB Cream

7 Oct

This is the first BB cream that I’ve ever bought.  I had tried a few samples but they all seemed to have a really thin consistency and were more make-up than skin care.  This was on offer in Asda when I bought it and it was £5 rather than it’s usual price of £9.99

Olay BB Cream

Olay BB Cream

There are some other products in the Glow Perfectors range  It has a touch of Maxfactor foundation and comes in two colours Light and Medium.  I chose the Light shade as I felt this would probably work best on my skin.  The BB cream has SPF 15 which I think is great for keeping skin protected.

Olay BB Cream

Olay BB Cream

The BB cream has quite a thick texture which I really like and is easily blended into the skin.  It provides a light coverage and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. The BB cream claims to keep skin moisturised for 24 hours which I tested by not using moisturiser on my skin on the days that I used the BB cream.  It definitely keeps skin moisturised on on the days that I use this I won’t bother with my regular moisturiser.

Just to give an idea of the coverage of the BB cream I used the product on the freckles on my hand, as you can see it covers the lighter one slightly but doesn’t do much to the darker one.  As you can see it gives a lovely light dewy coverage which is great for when your skin looks good.  Since it doesn’t conceal too much you may wish to wear concealer with it.

Overall I really like this product and would definitely buy it again.  Have you tried the Olay BB cream, if you have what did you think?  Or do you prefer a different brand?  Let me know 🙂

Collection Volume Sensation Lipstick – Peachy Keen Review

29 Aug

This is one of the things that I won in the Collection goody and I thought I’d give it a wee review as I have used it quite a few time since winning it.  This is from Collections’ Volume Sensation Lipstick range which claims to volumise lips as well as leaving them moisurised.  It comes in a bright pink plastic packaging which makes it easy to find at the bottom of your bag.

Peachy Keen

Peachy Keen

Peachy Keen is a warm gold/peach colour with a frost finish.  I don’t find it volumises my lips any but I do find that it really moisturises them and it doesn’t dry my lips out.  The lipstick also has a slightly sweet vanilla smell when it’s in the tube, but you can’t smell/taste this once applied.  When first applied it gives lips a slightly tingly feeling, I think this might be the volumising product in the lipstick.

Peachy Keen

Peachy Keen

I find that it last around 4-5 hours before needing to be touched up and usually needs to be touched up after eating/drinking.  Overall I feel that it’s a great lipstick for the price and will definitely be purchasing again, as well as trying some other shades in the range.

Collection Volume Sensation Lipsticks can be purchased from the Collection website, and Superdrug for £2.99.

Have you tried any of Collection lipsticks? And what’s your favourite lip shade to wear? 🙂

N.Y.C City Curls Mascara Review

26 Aug

I just realised that this is the first mascara review that I have ever done on my blog, which is surprising as I have a few and wear mascara almost everyday.

The mascara I’m reviewing today is N.Y.C (New York Color) City Curls mascara.  I’ve had this mascara a few months now so the packaging is not a perfect as it was when I first bought it.  I have the mascara in Carbon which is a really dark black which I love as I find that it really helps emphasize my lashes.

NYC City Curls Mascara

NYC City Curls Mascara

The mascara has a curved brush which I feel is great for making sure that all lashes are coated in the product.  I find that this product last all day however I do find that it sometimes smudges under the lower lashes if you rub your eyes.  If you don’t rub your eyes then you’ll be fine.

NYC City Curls Mascara

As you can see in the pictures the mascara helps curl the lashes as well as lengthening them.  I really love this mascara and you can see it makes a huge difference to my lashes.  I don’t find that this mascara goes on clumpy which is great.

NYC City Curls Mascara

The only thing that could make me love this product more would be if it was waterproof, but I would definitely recommend it.  You can buy the N.Y.C City Curls mascara for £2.49 from Superdrug.

Have you tried any N.Y.C products and what’s is your favourite mascara?

2true Eyebrow Pencil Shade 1 Review

22 Aug

I’ve had this eyebrow pencil for a while now and had completely forgot to review.  I bought it in Superdrug and items from the 2true range are usually on 3 for £5 which makes them a great budget beauty range.  I’ve also tried their cheek and lip tints which are great dupes for the Benefit one, you can read more about that here.

This was the very first eyebrow product that I ever bought and I love it and use it regularly.  I have shade 1 (Natural brown) which I feel blends well with my eyebrows.  On the lid of the pencil is a small brush which is great for smoothing eyebrows down before using the pencil and for brushing eyebrows after using it.

To use the pencil I use small light strokes following the direction of the eyebrow hairs.

The only thing I find with this is if it’s not used for a while it can become a little hard but this is easily fixed by giving it a little sharpen.

Collection Cream Puff – Cotton Candy Review

30 Jul

This is one of the items that I won in the Collection Twitter competition (you can see the rest here) and it was the first one that I decided to try.  I had seen this in shops and also on other blogs but I never bought it because I wasn’t sure if I’d like the matte lip effect that it give.  How wrong was I; I really wish that I had got it sooner.

Cream Puff

Cream Puff

The Cream Puff lip cream comes in a small tube and has a doe foot applicator like a lip gloss had.  I wasn’t sure about the colour as it looked really dark on the applicator.  The lip cream goes on smoothly and dries to a matte finish.  When on lips Cotton Candy is a lovely pink shade.

Cream Puff

I found that this has really great wear time of around 5 hours and lasts quite well though eating and drinking however may have to be touched up slightly afterwards.  I thought that due to being a matte lip product that it was going to be really drying this is another reason that I hadn’t bought it myself, but it is surprisingly moisturising.

Cream Puff

Overall I really love this product and will definitely be buying Cotton Candy and investing in some of the other shades as well.  You can buy Collection Cream Puff lip creams in Boots and Superdrug for £2.99 which I feel is a great price considering how long lasting that it is.

Have you tried Collection Cream Puff lip creams, what did you thing of them? And what are your thoughts on matte lip products? 🙂

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Review (Rose)*

21 Jul

I was recently asked to review a Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick for QVC and of course I said that I’d love to.  QVC is a shopping channel but also has a website which is regularly updated with great deals.

The Bobbi Brown shimmer bricks come in black glossy cardboard box on the back of which are some details about the product. On this it tells you that the shimmer bricks are handmade in Italy, this is something I didn’t know!

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick

Inside the cardboard box is the case containing the shimmer brick. This is also a sleek glossy black. The case also has a mirror inside which is great for applying the product, especially on the go 🙂 There is also little square protecting the product.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick

Bobbi Brown shimmer bricks consist of five different coloured bars, ranging from light to dark. They can be used as highlighters, for adding a little colour to cheeks and as eyeshadows! I really couldn’t believe how much this product could be used for.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick

The colours in the rose shimmer brick all have a pinkness to them even the white shade, which in certain lights has a pink shimmer running through it.  Although all the shades are different, they work really well blended together. I haven’t tried these as eyeshadows yet but I can tell you that they work really well by blending all the colours together on cheeks. I found that they also had really good staying power about 6 hours before needing touched up. I thought this was really good especially considering the really warm weather that we’ve been having in Scotland.

The product cost £30.50 and comes in a range of colours so I feel that there is something for everyone. You can purchase the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks here and you can see the full range of Bobbi Brown products that are available from QVC here.

Have you tried the Bobbi Brown shimmer bricks or are they something that you’d like to try? Let me know what you think 🙂

Barry M Ultra Moisturising Lip Paint – Black Cherry

20 Jun

I bought this when the ultra moisturising lip paints were released with the aim of reviewing it way before now but was really busy at that point in time and have only recently realized that I hadn’t reviewed it.

There are 6 lip paints in the ultra moisturising collection, I have Black Cherry (160).  The lip paints in the ultra moisturising collection contain Cocoa Butter to ensure that lips stay nice and soft.  As you can see the packaging is different to the usual Barry M lip paints as these once are bright pink.  I really like the packaging a feel that this makes them really stand out.

Black Cherry

Black Cherry

Black Cherry is a a berry/red colour which I think is lovely and would probably suit most skin tones.  I find the lip paint to be moisturising and find that it lasts about 4-5 hours without eating/drinking before it starts to fade slightly.  I find that sometimes it can wear off slightly patchy, but this isn’t really too big a deal if your willing to reapply throughout the day.

Have you tried any of the Barry M ultra  moisturising lip paints? Let me know what you thought 🙂
