Clarins Daily Energizer Cream Review

23 Mar

Life has kind of taken over recently meaning that I’ve had less time to blog, and although I promised in my last post to write another sooner than this,  found that it just seemed rushed. And I’d much rather publish a post which I feel that you would appreciate as I know I’m not a fan of reading post which seem to be quickly flung together in the need to let people know that your still writing your blog.  I’m really hoping that this time away from the blogging world (I haven’t been reading any blogs lately) will mean that hopefully I’ll have some new ideas for post too.  Anyway on with what I really want to talk to you about; Clarins Daily Energizer Cream.

Clarins Daily Energizer Cream

Clarins Daily Energizer Cream

I’d been given a sample of this at one of the counters and loved it so much that I went back and bought the full sized tub.  It feels a little bit thick and lovely and creamy.   I think that this would be best for dry/combination skin, and if you have oily skin you maybe better suited to the cream-gel formula. It comes in a really nice glass tub, which seems quite sturdy, but I haven’t dropped it yet so I’m not sure how it copes with this.  Like all the others in the daily energizers range the packaging is orange which I feel is a nice colour and helps you feel a little more awake in the morning.

The Daily Enegrizers range is specially developed for skin in its 20’s.  It aims to make skin appear bright and healthy while minimizing minor imperfections.  Other products in the range include, a cleansing gel, wake-up booster and the cream-gel moisturizer.

I really love this product and have been using it with the cleansing gel and I feel like it has improved the appearance of my skin.  I find that the moisturizer keeps my skin feeling nice and soft and helps to hydrate any part which are a little dry.

I definitely recommend this and it can be bought for £21.00 at any Clarins counter or from their website.

Have you tried any of the Clarins Daily Energizers range?  Let me know what you thought of it 🙂

Girlz Only Dry Shampoo Review*

16 Nov

This is one of the products that I received at the Fabb Glasgow event and I have to admit that I really wanted to try it.  I have only ever used another, very well known brand.  I bought it, it worked well I continued to buy it and didn’t look at any others out there.  But then I was told at the event that this one was better and I decided that I really had to see if it measured up to the expectations of my favourite dry shampoo.

Girlz Only Dry Shampoo

I scent that I got is Party Nights which has a floral fragrance.  There are 2 others fragrances, also one for blondes, one for brunettes and a volumising one.  Party Nights comes in a lovely pink tin(I really love the pattern on it) which is 150ml, which is slightly smaller than the one that I usually buy but not buy too much.

Girlz Only Dry Shampoo

I find that when I spray this onto hair it doesn’t come out look white and powdery like the other, in fact you can’t really see it at all.  But I soon realised that this was a huge plus point as it means you just have to give hair a quick rub rather than rubbing and brushing and then checking to make sure there is no white bits left in your hair.  I also feel that this gives hair a little bit of volume if hair is looking a little flat.

Girlz Only Dry Shampoo

Overall I think I may have finally been converted to use a different dry shampoo.  I will definitely be buying this when it runs out.  You can buy Girlz Only Dry Shampoo from Tesco with prices starting at £1.50.

Have you tried any of the dry shampoos from the Girlz Only range?  Let me know what you thought 🙂

Crystal Clear Skincare – 10 Minute Glow*

3 Nov

This is one of the products that I received at the Fabb events from the lovely people at Crystal Clear Skincare.  I also received the Lift Away The Years; which is one of their most famed products, however I felt that I was a little too young of anti aging so I gave it too my mum whose been using it and can really see the results.

Anyway 10 Minute Glow is a peel off face mask which works in just 10 minutes.  The mask aims to minimise pore, deeply cleanse the skin and hydrate skin to make your skin glow.  The face mask is clear and has a really think consitency which I feel makes it easy to apply.  You apply a thin layer of this mask all over your face, or you can apply it on specific areas you want to target.  After being left on for ten minutes, it begins to look shiny and can be easily peeled off; depending on how you’ve applied it will depend on how much of the mask can be peeled on at the one time.  As its shiny when dry is easy to see any bits you’ve missed when peeling it off.

I’ve been using this mask once a week for the past four weeks, and I can tell you I love it.  I’m not normally a fan of peel off masks but this one just comes of so easily.  I find that even thought my pores aren’t too large to begin with it definitely makes them look smaller.  This also has some anti aging ingredients in it which makes skin look brighter and feel firmer.

Overall I really love this product and will definitely be purchasing it again once this one runs out.  I would say that the 10 Minute Glow is one of my favourite skincare products at the moment.

The 10 Minute Glow Face Mask can be purchased from the  Crystal Clear Skincare website for £24.99.

N.Y.C City Curls Mascara Review

26 Aug

I just realised that this is the first mascara review that I have ever done on my blog, which is surprising as I have a few and wear mascara almost everyday.

The mascara I’m reviewing today is N.Y.C (New York Color) City Curls mascara.  I’ve had this mascara a few months now so the packaging is not a perfect as it was when I first bought it.  I have the mascara in Carbon which is a really dark black which I love as I find that it really helps emphasize my lashes.

The mascara has a curved brush which I feel is great for making sure that all lashes are coated in the product.  I find that this product last all day however I do find that it sometimes smudges under the lower lashes if you rub your eyes.  If you don’t rub your eyes then you’ll be fine.

As you can see in the pictures the mascara helps curl the lashes as well as lengthening them.  I really love this mascara and you can see it makes a huge difference to my lashes.  I don’t find that this mascara goes on clumpy which is great.

NYC City Curls Mascara

The only thing that could make me love this product more would be if it was waterproof, but I would definitely recommend it.  You can buy the N.Y.C City Curls mascara for £2.49 from Superdrug.

Have you tried any N.Y.C products and what’s is your favourite mascara?

SugarStrip Ease Sugar Wax Review*

20 May

The lovely people at Simply Natural were kind enough to send me a tub of their Sugar StripEase wax.  The company is based in Ireland and focus on creating natural cosmetic and hair care products.  Their products are also cruelty free and the company do not use parabens in their products; more information can be found on the Simply Natural about page.

I think that the technique of sugaring could be the next “new” thing. I put new in quotation marks as it isn’t really a new thing, it’s like BB Creams and threading they were popular elsewhere first and are starting to become popular here.  Why do I think that it could be the next you thing, it’s easy and less painful than wax.

Sugar StripEase comes in a box which contains the tub of sugar based wax, 15 reusable fabric strips, three different sized spatulas and an instruction sheet.  As you can see from the box the wax is vegan friendly and is approved by the BAUV (British Association for the Abolition of Vivisection).  I loved the packaging of the product, it look so cute and girly.

You have to heat this product by placing the tub in the microwave for 60 seconds (it varies, I put mine in for 40) until it’s the consistency of runny honey.  It’s recommended that you test the product on the back of your hand to ensure it’s not too hot.

Once you’ve decided that it’s the correct temperature, you use the spatula to spread a thin layer on the area you want to wax (in the direction of hair growth), then rub fabric strip down and pull back.  I found that Sugar StripEase was less painful than the cold wax strips that I usually use, it’s not completely pain free since your pulling the hair out but I’d definitely recommend this to people who find cold wax strips too painful.  I also found that Sugar StipEase didn’t leave my legs looking red or with as many red dots as I get from regular wax.

As the product is made of sugar there is no need for the greasy after wax wipes that you usually get, instead any remaining product can simply be wiped of with water.  For me the wax stayed warm for at least 40 minutes which gives you plenty of time to use it.

I found that the wax removed most of the hairs, I think that the hairs that were left were a little too short but I’ll know this for next time that I use it.  Overall I feel that this product is awesome and I will definitely be purchasing this again.

Sugar StripEase can be purchased from the Simply Natural Online Store for €9.95 (about £8.40).  There are also other products in the Sugar StripEase range including a Talc to use before waxing and a Soothing Mist to use afterwards.

Have you tried Sugar StripEase or sugaring, let me know what you thought 🙂

Katy Perry Eylure Lashes (Oh honey)

18 Oct

These were the first false eyelashes that I have ever worn, so I don’t really have anything to compare them to but I have to admit that I loved these and I couldn’t believe that I had never worn false eyelashes before.

The lashes come in four types, Sweetie Pie, Oh Honey, Cool Kitty and Oh My. I choose Oh Honey because I wanted them for a daytime look but wanted something a bit bolder than the Sweetie Pie lashes.  The eyelashes come in nice box each with it’s own cute design.  The Oh Honey lashes come a yellow striped box.  With the eyelashes you also get instructions, eyelash glue and a sticker with the name of the lashes.

Katy’s top tips for applying the lashes

The contents

A close up of the lashes

As you can see from the close up the lashes  are quite wispy and get slightly longer towards the outer-corners.  The lashes also come on a clear lash band.  If like me you don’t have much experience with lashes there are some tutorials online and eylure have a video for each of the Katy Perry lashes, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9B_5F4lXCE

The lashes were a little long so I had to trim them, you should cut just one or two lashes at a time from the outside corners.  Like I have said previously these are the first lashes I tried, and it did take me a couple of goes to get them to sit right, but I think that was just down to inexperience so if you know what your doing then there probably a lot easier to apply 🙂

I had no problems with the lashes once they were on, they lasted all day (around 12 hours) and I wasn’t able to feel them when I had them on.  The thing I was most worried about was taking them off and being left with bits of glue on my eyelid but this didn’t happen! 🙂

Overall I would highly recommend the Oh Honey eyelashes and I will definitely be buying more of these.  The Katy Perry lashes can be bought in Boots, Superdrug  and Asos and cost around £5.95 each.

Collection Lasting Colour Gel Eyeliner Review

14 Jun

I recently bought Collection (previously Collection 2000) lasting colour gel eyeliner, in brow.  The product also comes in black, gold and teal.  The eyeliner comes in a box which has tips on the back for anyone who maybe unsure of how to use it and there is also a small brush included.

This eyeliner has a nice consistency and applies easily.  On the packaging it states that the eyeliner can last up to 12 hours; I feel that this is correct as it doesn’t fade or smudge throughout the day.  I would recommend this product for people who want to try something different but perhaps find liquid liner to tricky to us ( I feel that it is a lot easier to apply than some liquid liners).

If there was to be any negative points about this eyeliner it would probably be the brush.  I would prefer one that was slightly bigger but this is just my personal thoughts, as it is the brush does a good job.

Collection lasting colour gel eyeliner can be purchased in Boots and Superdrug for £4.99
