Sleek Storm Palette

26 May

Uni exams are finally all over, meaning that I’ll be able to blog more often as I won’t have loads of deadlines.  Anway I’d seen this palette a few time on other blogs and instagram and when I saw it after an exam, I decided that it could be like a reward (Any excuse to justify buying more make-up!).

This has quickly become one of my favourite palettes at the moment.  Out of the 12 shades only 3 are matte, so if your not a fan of shimmery eyeshadow then this probably isn’t for you.   The packaging is like all the Sleek i-divine shadow palettes, black casing with 12 eyeshadows and a large mirror.  On the outer box it also has some tips which I think is quite a nice touch.

I think that the colours in this palette a gorgeous and you can definitely create so many different looks.  I love how they all have names, and they’re all after different types of storms.

They are all highly pigmented which is great and a little goes along way.  I find that with primer they last about 6 hours before I start to notice a little creasing, but you can fix this by just blending it a little and it looks fine again.  As with all the Sleek palettes that I’ve tried so far I find that they all blend together beautifully and that there are so many looks that you can create using this palette.   I will definitely be posting some of the looks that I create with this palette soon, so keep a look out 🙂

Here are the 12 shades swatched (without primer);

Overall I love this palette and would definitely recommend it if your looking for a palette to create both day and night looks.  Sleek i-divine palettes can be found on the Sleek website and at Superdrug for £7.99.

Have you tried the Sleek Storm palette?  Did you like it or do you prefer one of the other palettes?

#SBBC 10 Products Under £10

20 Sep

I love shopping and if I had the money I would probably shop everyday.  But I don’t think that you always have to spend a lot of money to get a great product and I feel that there are loads of drugstore cosmetics that could rival their high-end counter parts.  So here are my top ten products for £10 and under;

10 products under £10

MUA Eye Primer – This eye primer works really well considering the price.  If I’m honest I probably won’t look for another eye primer as this one does a great job. Price – £2.50

NYC Mascara – You can see my full review here and the difference it made to my lashes.  The only thing about this product is that it isn’t waterproof but it last all day and really makes a difference to lashes. Price – £2.49

Revlon Kissable Balm Stain – I love this and I’m planning on buying more colours of these.  They keep lips moisturized while providing colour and you don’t have to keep reapplying as after a while they turn into a lip stain, perfect for when you don’t have time to reapply constantly. Price – £7.99

Barry M Nail Paints – I love these! Most of them are £2.99 but you’ll pay a little more of ones that have an effect to them.  The last for around 5 days before you’ll start to notice a little chipping.  There are over 50 colours in the range so you’ll definitely find a colour that you like! Price – from £2.99

Collection Glam Crystals – I’ve used Collection Glam Crystals for years and they are the best glitter eyeliners that I’ve tried.  The last all day and come in a wide range of colours.  Price – £2.99

10 products under £10

Bourjois Delice de Poudre –  This bronzer is mainly matte – it has got a little bit of shimmer in the packaging but you don’t notice this when it applied making it great for contouring.  Not only is it shaped like a chocolate bar it also smells like chocolate.  Price – £6.99

Sleek Rose Gold Blush – Another favourite within the blogging community is this blusher and if you have it you’ll know why.  It’s highly pigmented and lasts all day.  Not only is this blush under £10, it’s a close dupe of Nars Orgasm. Price – £4.99

Loreal Elnett – This is the best hair spray that I’ve ever used and although a little more expensive that some it’s definitely worth it and I don’t think I’d ever use a different hairspray.  I really does brush out of hair and doesn’t leave it feeling sticky like some brands do.  Price – £3.89

Collection Lasting Colour Lipstick (Mango Tango) – I’ve not reviewed this yet but it’s such a great little lipstick and I used it quite a few times on holiday.  It last about 4-5 hours and is great for adding a pop of colour to your make-up look.  Price – £2.99

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation – Always a favourite foundation of mine and I know a lot of other blogger have a love for this foundation as well.  It provides good coverage and feels light on the skin.  Price – £8.99

So that’s my top ten products under £10 🙂 Do you use any of the ones on my list or do you have another product you think should be on it?

#SBBC Favourite Eyeshadow Palette

2 Sep

So this is the second post in the September Beauty Blog Challenge.  This is my favourite eyeshadow palette at the moment, which is quite surprising as I usually like to wear brighter eyeshadows/eyeliners.

The Sleek Au Naturel palette is an amazing neutral palette which has 12 eyeshadows 8 of them are matte and the other 4 are shimmer shades. Most of them are well pigmanted (there are a few that are quite pale) but all show up really well over a primer and last all day.  You can read my full review of the Sleek Au Naturel palette here.

Sleek Au Naturel Palette

Sleek Au Naturel Palette

I find that this palette is great for creating looks for both day and night.  Since there are twelve colours in the palette I feel like this means that there are numerous combinations you can try as all the colours go very well together. Below is one of my usual quick daytime looks that using this palette;

Sleek Au Naturel Palette

I only did a close up of this look as I like my eyeliner quite thick and you couldn’t really see much of the eyeshadow from a distance.  For this I used the peach colour Toast and the brown shade third from the left at the bottom of the palette Bark. I blended these together over primer and added a little of the white shade Nougat to the inner corner.  I finished of my look by adding some liquid eyeliner along the top of the lash line and some mascara on the lashes.

What’s your favourite palette? And have you tried any of the Sleek Makeup palettes?

Make Up Look Using Sleek Lagoon Palette

18 Jul

I really like this palette but feel I haven’t really used it as much as I thought I would. You can see my full review of the Sleek Lagoon palette here. So I decided to create a look which I think has a slightly tropical feel and I thought it would look quite nice during the summer.

Sleek Lagoon Palette

Sleek Lagoon Palette

For this look I used the following shades from the palette;

Emerald

Pink Jewel

Sand Dollar

Oyster (this is the  shimmery white)

Sleek Lagoon Palette

  • Apply a primer all over lid.  I used MUA eyeprimer.
  • Next apply Sand Dollar over two thirds of the eye starting from the inner corner.
  • Apply Pink Jewel to the rest of the lid and blend with Sand Dollar so there is on harsh lines between them.
  • Add Emerald to the upper and lower lash line and bring out into a wing at the outer corner of the eye. It easiest to do this with a thin eyeliner brush.
  • Finally add Oyster to the inner corners of eyes.  You could also use this to highlight the brow bone (I haven’t done this in this look).

Let me know what you think of this look and what looks you like creating with the Sleek Lagoon palette 🙂

Summer Essentials (4) – Eyes

14 Jun

As you can probably tell from my previous summer essentials post I love going for bright colours during summer.  To me, eyeliner/eyeshadow are really important and I would much rather have one of these on than lipstick.  Here are my Summer Essentials for eyes;

Summer Essentials Eyes

  • MUA Eye Primer – To me eye primer is a must to ensure that you eyeshadow is bright and doesn’t crease and fade thoughout the day.  MUA’s eye primer is great for this and doesn’t break the bank either at only £2:50.  The full review can be read here.
  • Barry M Liquid Liner  – This shade is Turquoise.  It’s a bright blue and dries to a matte finish.  The liner has a felt tip nip which makes application easy.  It last all day and doesn’t move once dried.  You can see my full review of it here.
  • Lumene Eyeshadow Duo – This was sent to me by Nancy in the budget beauty blogger swap back in January. It is part of the blueberry longe wear eyeshadow range and is called Northern lights.  This due can be used to make a bright summery smokey eye look.
  • Sleek Lagoon Palette – This was released in March and I couldn’t wait until it came out.  It’s filled with mainly shimmer shades with just 3 matte ones.  I have to admit that I haven’t used it too much as I really wanted to wait until summer to use these shades and to give me time to experiment with it and decide which colours went best with each other.  You can see me full review of it here.
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil – I have this in Ranson which is a gorgeous purple shade with a slight hint of blue.  This really does last all day and is one of the colours that I frequently take on holiday with me as I know that it will stay put.  You can see my full review of it here.
  • Collection Glam Eyes Gel Liner – This is a bright green glitter gel liner and the shade is called Le Freak.  I can’t tell you how many times that I’ve purchased this shade but I’ve been using it for at least four years.  Another that I take with me when I’m traveling as it lasts all day and doesn’t need to be touched up.  You can see my full review of it here.

So that’s my Summer Essentials for eyes, let me know what you thought and what your favourite summer eye colours are 🙂

Summer Essentials (2) – Face

31 May

This is part to in my Summer Essentials series if you haven’t seen the first one you can see it here.

So this post focuses on what I think are perfect face products for summer.  I love wearing slightly more shimmery products during the summer as they tend to catch the sun.  So here are the products that I feel are the summer essentials;

Summer Essentials Face

  • Bourjois Bronzer – This is a gorgeous matte bronzer which I find great for contouring and just for adding a little bit of colour to you skin.  This bronzer is shaped and smells like chocolate 🙂  You can see my full review of the Bourjois bronzer here.
  • Benefit That Gal Primer – I currently only have a sample size version of this product but I’ll definitely be investing in the full size once it runs outs.  I find that my make-up stays put all day when I use this primer, which I think is essential for summer as you don’t want to have to continually reapply your make-up.  I also find that this works as a subtle highlighter by patting it in just above your cheeks.
  • Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation – This foundation helps create a lovely glow without making you look like a disco ball.  It provides a medium coverage and helps to brighten up your skin.  Wake Me Up foundation also feels really light on skin making it perfect for summer.  You can see my full review of it here.
  • MUA Pressed Powder –  I use this powder in the summer usually just along my T zone to prevent it from getting oily.  This pressed powder is £1 only in Superdrug and I feel that it’s really good value for the money.
  • Sleek Rose Gold Blush – This is a lovely coral/pink coloured blusher and has a subtle gold shimmer running though it.  It’s really pigmented so a little goes a long way.  Coral shades seem to be really popular this summer and I feel this blush is a must have for summer.  You can see my full review of Sleek Rose Gold bush here.

So that the second in my summer essentials posts, let me know what you think of the products that I included and what you summer essentials would be 🙂

Sleek Makeup Blush Review – Rose Gold

10 Apr

After seeing so many good reviews of this product I knew that I had to try it out myself.  The Sleek Makeup blushers comes in a small black casing and has a mirror inside so its handy if your wanting to re-apply the blush through out the day (though I don’t feel that you’d need to do that).

Sleek Blush Rose Gold

Sleek Blush Rose Gold

The blush Rose Gold is a lovely coral/pink shade with a subtle gold shimmer running through it.  I’ve seen many bloggers say that this is a dupe for the Nars Orgasm blush, I haven’t tried that blush but  they look really similar form the pictures I’ve seen.

Sleek Blush Rose Gold

The blush is quite pigmented so you don’t have to use a lot of product.  I feel that it gives a nice healthy glow without looking overly shimmery/glittery.  I think this is definitely going to be one of my favourite products from spring/summer.  The Rose Gold blush last all day for me without needing to be touched up, which I love as I’m not a fan of having to constantly re-apply make-up through out the day.

Sleek Blush Rose Gold

Sleek Blush Rose Gold

Both swatches are in natural light, the second is in direct sunlight so you could clearly see the shimmer.

This blush cost £4.49 which I think is amazing considering the packaging and the fact that you get 8g of product which is quite a lot meaning it should last awhile.  It can be purchased from Superdrug or on the Sleek Makeup website.

Have you tried any Sleek Makeup blushers? Let me know what you think of them, or if you’ve used Nars Orgasm do you think that rose gold seems like a good dupe?

Sleek Makeup Lagoon Palette (Aqua Collection) Review

14 Mar

I knew as soon as I saw this palette that I wanted it and it was officially released yesterday.  The Lagoon i-devine palette is from the Sleek Aqua collection which is a limited edition.  The collection also includes a blush and a collection of nail varnishes.

The Lagoon palette is packaged like all the other Sleek palettes, black packaging with a large mirror on the inside and a sponge applicator.  There is also a thin sheet which names all the colours.

The palette is made up of mainly shimmer shade with only three matte shades.  There is a good mix of colours in this palette and I feel that they will all look great for during the summer.  The colours like other Sleek palettes I’ve tried are quite pigmented but look even better over primer.

shades L-R; Sassea, Deep Water, Reflection, Emerald, Oyster and Black Pearl

shades L-R; Pink Jewel, Sand Dollar, Underworld, Sea Shell, Night Sky, Ariel

All of the shades were swatched without primer. I’ve only used a couple of the shades so far but I’ve found that with a primer they last about 6-7 hours before they start to fade slightly.

Below is the first look that I created using the shades Sassea,  Deep Water and Oyster (at the inner corner).

Sleek Au Naturel Palette Review

17 Dec

I picked up this the Sleek Au Naturel palette in Superdrug a few weeks ago when it was on three for two.  I had never tried any Sleek products before but I decided to try them as I liked the look of this palette.

The palette has a lovely black casing which house the eyeshadows, eyeshadow applicator and a large mirror.  The Au Naturel palette has twelve colours, eight of which are matte and the other four are shimmer. There is also a little cover sheet on the eyeshadows which tells you the names of each eyeshadow.

From the eyeshadows in the top row (apart from Taupe) to be less pigmented than the bottom half of the palette however I feel that these eyeshadow could be used mainly for highlighting.  I feel that this palette is great for creating everyday smokey eye looks but could also be made bolder by using just the darker colours, so there is something for everyone in this palette.

Below are the colours swatched (without primer)

This palette was £6.99 from Superdrug and can also be bought from the Sleek Make-up website.
